Being Truly Happy And At Peace - What Does It Mean?

Being happy means so many things to different people. We come from all walks of life, including different cultures. I am in a profession where I come in contact with a multitude of people everyday, you might say my job is customer service related. Ive been able to observe individuals in all walks of life and in varying stages of their development and health. Somehow maybe Ive touched a life to make it just a little better.

Its pretty easy to spot that person who is angry at the world. Sometimes nothing that I or anyone else can say seems to make a difference. What made him or her this angry? Most of the time, I believe it is in some way loss of control. We as human beings want to feel that we have control of the situation, even though we may not admit it. As you observe a young child it is pretty easy to tell when he or she wants something and cant get it. The elderly sometimes cant control their environment any longer and have to depend on family, friends, or health care providers. Just the other day I was in a restaurant when a young girl sat at a table next to me. Within a few minutes her father sat at a table behind me. When asked by the mother why he sat over there, the unhappiness poured out of his mouth. He did not want to sit next to those other people and a few other choice words. Now, if he did not want to sit there, why didnt he ask his daughter to come over to the other table? Angry At The World is what I call it.

We cant control every situation that we are faced with but we somehow have to accept it to be truly happy. Each day we face some sort of loss, hurt or grief and its hard some days to count your many blessings. Weve all heard of the stages of grief and I wont go into that here but just a reminder that it ends with acceptance. True happiness has to come from within. Figure out what it is that is important to you and do your best to stay focused on it. We have all made mistakes but it does not do any good to look back and dwell on the past. To learn from our mistakes is usually a very good lesson.

In closing, I would like to say stay in tune on what is important to you. When you are angry at the world it does affect others including those you love and even strangers all around you. Dont be like the man sitting at the table behind me; invite your family or friend to join you peacefully. I bet he did not even enjoy that meal that he spent good money on.

Create A Balanced Life

One of the most overlooked keys to a successful life is balance. It is a goal that is not as exciting as some other things. Nevertheless, it is the basic component to living a happy, fulfilled life.

We all tend to get out of balance occasionally. Where this becomes a problem is when certain areas take on more importance than others. This goes against our natural state as human beings. We have many different needs that yearn to be fulfilled. If not, emptiness is the result.

Below are the seven areas of life which should be focused upon daily. Do at least one activity in every area to maintain proper balance. This will result in a greater degree of happiness in a short period of time.

1. Physical: If you dont have your health, success in all other areas tends to be diminished. The merits of good nutrition and exercise are well-known. Implement a regimen that consists of aerobic exercise coupled with weight lifting. The benefits of increased energy, esteem, and overall health become a major stepping-stone to success.

2. Mental: Use the mind for something more than a sponge sopping up useless knowledge off television each night. Set aside time to read books that expand the mind. Also, reactivate your dreaming mechanism that was present as a child. Think about what you would like to have, do, be, and enjoy. Consider where you want to contribute and what type of legacy you want to leave.

3. Spiritually: Get in touch with the universal connection to something bigger than ourselves. Meditate, pray, and attend spiritual group activities. Interact with like minded people who share similar views on the divine. Nurture the spirit within to provide balance and harmony when there is discord.

4. Emotional: Release the baggage of yesterday. Accept that what occurred in the past cannot be changed. Practice the art of forgiveness and letting go. Emotionally detach from situations that cause you heartache. Get in touch with the deep-seeded emotions through hearty laughter and crying. Both help to cleanse the body of the tension produced by negativity.

5. Social/Interpersonal: We are created as social beings-entertain this aspect of yourself. Make regular contribution to humanity by doing something kind for others. Strengthen the bonds by interacting with those closest to you. Join clubs and organizations to find people with similar interests.

6. Financial: Obviously working is part of our financial equation; a large part. However, to get ahead, attend to the other areas of wealth building. Daily, tend to your investments to make sure they are performing as desired. Learn all you can about different investment vehicles to broaden your knowledge base. Begin to implement these strategies thus diversifying your investment portfolio.

7. Family: It is terrible to see someone who is a huge success have nobody to share the joy with. Do not overlook those closest to you. It is easy to take them for granted. Spend the extra time with the children creating memories they will carry with them for a lifetime. Give your spouse the desired attention while doing the little things that lets him/her know that you care.

Concentrate on completing at least one action in each of these areas everyday to create the balance and fulfillment that so many seem to miss. It will lead to a happier life.

Do you ever wonder how some people can stay so darn happy all of the time? Do you think how can they maintain such happiness in times of personal challenges and stress?

People in the quest to find happiness have a tendency to look in all the wrong places. There is an old story about some wise men who were discussing where to hide the secret of happiness. The first response was to bury it deep in the oceans, but the wisest of the wise men said “No because man would find it there.”

Next, idea was to bury it deep in the sands of the desert. Again, the wisest of the wise men said N”o because man would find it there.”

A third idea was given to hide it at the top of the highest mountain in the world. The wisest of the wise men said “No because man would eventually climb the highest mountain and find it there.”

Finally, the wisest of the wise said that the secret to happiness needs to be buried within each man because man would never look inside of himself. Today, that story still rings true.

People are continually seeking to find happiness outside of themselves and not from within. Happiness is the result of being able to leverage these 3 simple internal strategies. When you have Goals, Attitudes and Self Leadership Skills all working together, you cannot be unhappy.

Goals are how we maintain our happiness. Human beings are natural goal setters, but not necessarily natural goal achievers. When individuals internalize a proven goal setting process along with the use of proven goal setting tools, then happiness is one of the results.

Attitudes are our thoughts of happiness. We can have a happy habit of thought or a not so happy one. Do you wake up each day with a happy attitudes of embracing the morning even when it is pouring down rain? Happiness is a choice of what attitudes we decide to think and act upon each and every day.

Self Leadership Skills are necessary in the pursuit of happiness. For the most part, human beings enjoy interacting with other human beings. We are social creatures. When we can strengthen and develop those strong interpersonal skills necessary for those interactions with others, we will find happiness.

If your happiness is not at the level that you desire, then consider internalizing goals, attitudes and self leadership skills to raise your level of personal happiness. For as always, happiness is a choice just like life.

3 Steps to Your Happiness

The first step is to really look at what is going on in your life, what is working and what is not working. Take the time and give yourself a life review. Get a notebook and list the most important aspects of your life, such as health, finances, relationships and fun. Under each topic write what is working and what you want that is not there at the present time. Be honest with yourself. This simple life review takes you out of denial. When you continue to live in denial, you recreate the pains of the past. Over and over again, the same or very similar patterns show up in your life. As you follow this simple life review process, you begin to accept what is really going on in your life. Then you have a choice to change or correct the pattern. This conscious choice will begin to dissolve the old pattern and you actually are free to create a new experience for this part of your life.

Exercise: Take a moment and go inside your emotional body to a situation that caused the upset of this old pattern. Next accept how you feel when you think about this situation and pattern. Surrender the feeling and consciousness of this past experience. This takes you out of denial and begins the evolutionary path to the life you desire.

Second step is to claim the truth. When you stand and claim the truth, you put forth the truth into motion. This is energy in motion and is very powerful and will create a new life path. Jesus spoke in the Aramaic language which is a language of vibration that creates instant energy. The word Ameyn in Aramaic when used in the beginning of a statement means. I say unto you. This is the claiming process. You are sending a new vibration to the universe. The universe always give you what you are sending out or believe.

Exercise: Stand and claim the truth. Speak to the Universe by saying: I say unto you_____________fill in the blank with what you choose to experience. Repeat this statement over and over and you will continue to raise your frequency. This will allow you to continue to release more and more of the past and embrace a new vibration which is a new life of happiness and fulfillment.

Third and final step is to live the truth. Now that you have completed the two previous steps, this one will be easy and effortless. Because you proclaimed the truth, you are a new frequency and vibration, therefore,you will automatically have a different experience. More of your Sacred Self will be expressing through you into life. Living the truth is a demonstration of the higher frequency you claimed and broadcast to the universe.

Truth: Your actions reveal you intentions. As you follow these 3 steps, your intentions become very clear to the universe and they will be revealed effortlessly in your actions. You will have changed, evolved and will be happy with yourself and your life.

What Is Your Calling?

Your calling is not merely a job or a profession, but it means your highest purpose on earth.
Does everyone has a calling or is it just for the chosen, the elite? Yes! And is everyone else doomed to live a mediocre life of quiet desperation? No!

Luckily our Universe is not that cruel. Everybody has a calling, a special unique assignment. This assignment is something you LIKE to do, something that is EASY for you, something that brings you JOY and ENTHUSIASM.
In fact the feeling of enthusiasm is the best criterion for knowing if you are aligned with your purpose or not. Your purpose brings you tremendous joy. It uplifts you to a higher dimension, where a float of divine energy conspires with you to make your calling, your dream happen.

Everyone has a purpose. Your life is not an accident (even if you came here without knocking at the door). The fact that you exist is PROOF that you must be here and that the Universe needs you AS YOU ARE.
And the beauty of this System is that everyone has also been generously empowered with the talents necessary to fulfill his mission. What better way could we have thought of?

You have a unique mission. You received talents to fulfill this mission. Fulfilling your mission is the greatest contribution to the world you can make, and it is at the same time the greatest possible spiritual growth you can make.
While searching and fulfilling your mission, you become the best person you could ever be. You become the greatest you, the most divine version of yourself.

Is it difficult and hard to follow your mission? Not at all! It is the easiest path to follow, the path that produces the most wonderful and amazing results. In fact there is no other path which gives you that amount of joy, happiness, fulfillment, enthusiasm and energy.

OK I hear you say, but I need also food and money, I can not live from heavenly feelings only. Well, the good news is that everything you will need for the fulfillment of your mission, will be given to you. The universe will bestow you with everything you need : money, helping hands, love, friendship, inspiration, support. All you need to accomplish your divine task on earth will be handed to you. And you will receive the gifts of the universe : not only spiritual ones but very tangibles ones, like money, help, health, a house, friendship, love.

What a pity that the biggest part of humanity still thinks they have to suffer and to work hard to survive. This belief goes right against the universal laws of abundance, easiness, lightness and joy. Look at nature : does nature work hard and suffer to grow trees and flowers? Do fish try to swim? Does the sun suffer to give us warmth and light? Nothing in nature complains or suffers. We humans, we think not right. Our thoughts about work and happiness are wrong. Look around you and you see prove everywhere.

It is all so easy : your mission on earth is your passion. You just have to do what makes you most happy and that will bring you the most energy, money, success and health.

You know you are following the right path if you feel passionate and enthusiastic. If you feel joy doing what you do, then you are on track. If it is natural and easy for you, that is it! No need to look further!

You are off the track if you : are tired, depressed, feel emptiness inside, feel often irritated and annoyed, have a lot of physical pain, are harassed by a thousand questions in your head, can not find sleep easily, feel angry, feel lost, hate your job, have a lot of negative thoughts, turn around in circles, are getting nowhere, hate to get out of bed in the morning, wonder why you came on earth, dont know what boosts your enthusiasm, tend to drink to forget, feel sorrow and melancholy, complain a lot, feel unfulfilled, are asking yourself what is the use of your job.

If you want to find your calling (it is the only path to happiness, success and fulfillment) you have to actively look for it. Your mission will not knock on your door neither will it be found through intellectual analysis. You will have to look for your mission inside yourself. It is hidden in your dreams. The shortest way to your mission is to follow your bliss.

If you are like most of us, you will need help to discover your mission. I needed help too. Happiness Exists Beyond our Comfort Zones

Happiness & growth happens on the other side of our comfort zone. Fear fills the gap between our comfort zone and growth. Taking the first step and walking through the fear is fundamental to creating happiness and the life we want.

We all have a defined comfort zone based on particular events or circumstances that have happened in our lives. Staying inside an established comfort zone can look like continuing in a job or relationship too long because the fear of changing, or moving on, can be very paralyzing. Simply put, we can get comfortable with things that are cause us anxiety, depression and sometimes misery because the alternative, which is doing something different, is, at times, just too terrifying.

In order to understand how one might take that first step into the fear, its important to understand how these comfort zones are developed in the first place. Ones particular comfort zone can be based on a life experience, or a series of life experiences, that occur over time. These episodes are as defining to our personality and to our sense of self as our height and color of eyes are defining to our physical characteristics.

At my very core, I was once a very shy person. There were certain circumstances, or professional obligations in my life, when I needed to be more social and demonstrative. But given a choice, I would always prefer to be the wallflower and simply observe. At one point in my life, it was very difficult for me to tell other people about myself or what I did for a living. When asked, I gave the shortest answer possible and then immediately shifted the conversation back to the other person. There is no question that I would drive my brother crazy when he called me in Kansas from his California home and asked, How are you doing? I, or course, said Fine. How are you? That was all.

When pressed for more details, I would just clam up. My shyness was caused by the fact that I didnt like having one-on-one, non-work related conversations. Being shy and introverted was well within my comfort zone. This condition had been with me my whole life.

Keeping quiet for too long

When I started first grade, a teacher noticed that I had a speech impediment and a slight shuttering problem. Words with hard Rs in them like work, word, and first were very difficult for me to pronounce. The word first would come out as furst, for example. To my ears, I sounded like a baby. I remember the terror I felt in school when my teachers would call on me to read. In conversation, I knew which words to avoid, but reading out loud from a textbook gave me no place to hide. The other children in the class would giggle and turn around; their mouths open wide with amusement and piercing ridicule shot from their eyes. I quickly learned that it was safer, and much more comfortable, simply not to talk. Even though the eight years of speech therapy I received helped me tremendously, the safe bounds of my comfort zone were already well established.

Now, back to just a few years ago. Again, I was very at ease addressing a large group where one-on-one conversations are not necessarily required. But, an intimate conversation with just one person, especially a person who I didnt know well, was like reading aloud in the first grade. I would slip back into a minor shuttering pattern. To me, it felt like if a word, or series of words, would come out of my mouth that would sound child-like. To minimize any potential embarrassment, I would say as little as I could and try to end the conversation. This was my comfort zone, it kept from establishing relationships, and it made me feel very insecure.

For me to move past this, I had to step into that area of fear. It wasnt my speech handicap; it was the fear that I had about my speech handicap that kept me from growing. So, heres what I did that put me in the position to take that first step:

First, I had to believe in the following statement: You can not change or heal what you do not acknowledge. I was sincerely tired of avoiding situations that might cause me discomfort. It was important for me to acknowledge the trigger for feeling fearful was actually created by the shame caused by my speech impediments. This shame caused me to feel not as worthy as everyone else, and unworthy as a person. By remaining shy and seemingly disconnected from others kept both the fear (the outward, or conscious, reaction to the way I talked) and the shame (the internal expression of my speech difficulties) safely inside my comfort zone. I knew all to well that I was not at peace with myself and I couldnt take my life to the next level, through personal growth, if I didnt venture into the areas of fear and shame. I was living my life as a passive passenger of the past. I had to make a free choice in the present and acknowledge what staying within this comfort zone was actually costing me.

Identify what you want

I simply began to identify what I wanted; I stopped giving energy to the things that I didnt want any longer. A want is very different from a need. Typically, a need is something that you must have in order to stay alive. Oxygen, water, and food are the most fundamental of all needs. A want, on the other hand, is a condition that is not vital to ones life per se; its just desired. The point here is that I didnt need to acknowledge my fear or share, I just wanted to. This shift in position allowed me the opportunity to gradually step into the fear and begin to walk past it. If I had put pressure on myself to the point that I was telling my self that I needed to, then the expectation and potential for disappointment would have been much greater. A couple of important takeaways from these last few points: (1) To change my condition (shyness) I had to first acknowledge what it was costing me (quality relationships); then (2) I had to identify what I wanted (to feel worthy) and (3) I had to give myself grace and time to begin, and complete, the journey into the fear.

This journey through fear was indeed a gradual process. I had to make conscious choices to strike up conversations with others. I had to make myself live in the here and now and not project the cruelty of my first-grade classmates onto the poor soul standing and talking in front of me. I wanted to learn to be more comfortable in my own skin when speaking with someone. Even today, I have to make the conscious decision to engage, not to retreat. However, I have learned that walking through the fear did not kill me. The growth in confidence and happiness I have gained as been well worth it.

You start each day by making the decision to be happy. You may have every reason to be sad or disappointed but you can choose what you will focus on and what thoughts you will think. Practice smiling and laughing. When I am with my grandson he is 2 years old we will just laugh to laugh. Watch funny shows, movies, read jokes, watch funny on line videos. In August of 2000 my youngest child 16 years old (daughter) passed away she had liver cancer. I was very sad and cried everyday for a year. But I also made the choice to make myself laugh so I could heal and find happiness in my life. I have happiness in my life every day despite the tragedy and sorrow.

Go to places that make you happy. Maybe thats the beach or the mountains or a local park. Wherever that place is frequent it as often as possible. Enjoy your surroundings and feel those happy feelings. It is these experiences that will manifest more happiness for you as you allow yourself to feel good and often.

Take time to think about what you want in your life and allow yourself to indulge in whatever you want. You can have whatever you want if you imagined it often. What do you want that will make you happy? Look at every area of your life and decide what you want. Do not focus on what you have or dont have because reality changes all the time. Now you get to choose what your reality is going to be. Choose to be happy everyday and you will.

Finding the Real You - Thinking to Change

There is nothing like a journey into your mind to discover who you really are.

Here are 7 tips to help you along the way.

1. Select one thing that you do everyday and do it differently.
If you only partly listen to what others say, stop and really listen. If you are busy planning what you want to say, you will be missing out on learning something real about the other person.

2. Pay attention to how people say things, what their body language is. Some communications experts say that 80% of a message is delivered through body language. Learn to observe what is going on before your eyes.

Learn to relate that to the effectiveness of your communications.

3. Pay attention to how you feel about what other people say. Feelings are a physical reaction to whatever is going on around you. Be aware of what your body does in relation to others. Fear and joy are the ultimate reaction to anything. And these result in chemical changes in your body causing tension or laughter or discomfort in the pit of your stomach or pleasure and relaxation. Learn to pay special attention to these and you will know why we say pay attention to your feelings.

4. Pay attention to what you think. Not just the words but the emotional content of the words. Not just the words but the images that you associate with what is happening. How big and where you see the images in your mind is as important as the message.

5. Take responsibility for all your actions.
Think about this. Do you blame others for making you angry? On your drive to work, do you curse drivers for their incompetence? Do you realize that it is your choice as to what any response will be in any situation?
Plan three responses for anything you do. A joke often diffuses any emotionally charged response you might give.

6. Change your focus. If you grumble about something you do not like to do, then that is the meaning it will have to you. Find three benefits for that something you do not like. Then think about these three benefits each time you do repeat the task. You will soon enough change your feeling toward the it.

7. At the end of the day, find a quiet spot somewhere to evaluate how things went during the day. Self
discovery requires some quiet time to understand how you do things.

There are many ways to change how you think and feel. Your beliefs and behavior patterns are all
interrelated. Change one thing and you could change many.

Happiness is not as simple as capturing a great visual with a modern camera. There is nothing more fulfilling than planning something and achieving it. Getting something by fluke is never as exciting or fulfilling. Finally make sure that the goals you set for yourself are mature or realistic. Having a pie in the sky dream will only lead to a feeling of failure eventually. Recognize your talents and set achievable goals.

The art of happiness deals with greater inner feelings rather than just material success. If happiness were subject only to material gains, the richest people would be the happiest! But it is not so, and do keep that in mind. Learn to live a healthy life by living each day complete in itself, completing the goals you had set for yourself for that day. The feeling of satisfaction from living such a life is immense, and that is how you work towards refining the art of happiness.
