You need to know how to apply and obtain a marriage license in the state of Georgia. Well if you are not prepared you might be sorry. So below I have listed the most recent and up to date marriage license laws and regulations in the state of Georgia.

You will need two valid forms of identification such as a driver license, social security card, birth certificate, state identification card, pass port or military ID.

You do not have to reside in the state of Georgia to apply or obtain a marriage license. Although if you are not a resident you must apply for the marriage license in the county that the marriage is taking place.

*Under House Bill 378, a qualifying premarital education program shall include at least six hours of instruction involving marital issues, which may include but not be limited to conflict management, communication skills, financial responsibilities, child and parenting responsibilities, and extended family roles. The program must have been completed within twelve months prior to the application and the couple must have undergone the premarital education together. You should contact your local county clerk for more information.

The couple to wed must apply for the license in person and together.

If you have been divorced with in the last six months you must provide a divorce decree.

Their are no waiting period for your license in the state of Georgia.

You must pay $65.00 if you did not take the premarital education. If you did take the premarital education courses you pay $30.00 for your marriage license.

Blood tests are no longer required in the state of Georgia.

If you are 16 or 17 years old, you may apply if accompanied by both parents who have given written consent. If the bride is pregnant, no parental consent is required if you submit a statement from a licensed physician certifying that the bride is pregnant. If you are under age and already have a child together you will need to provide a birth certificate of the child.

Their are no proxy marriages.

Their are cousin marriages.

Their are common law marriages.

Any minister who is authorized by his or her church may perform marriages. The ministers must completer the marriage certificate and return it to the ordinary with in 30 days of the marriage.

Recently, a very wise studier of the franchising industry sent me an email and we began to discuss the issues considering modern day franchising. They stated:

I think we should either regulate franchising as well as securities are regulated or do away with regulation of franchising entirely and concentrate on state fraud laws for consumers of business opportunities.

Interesting, as I concur with this actually and after spending over a decade in the franchising industry setting up units in 23 states, I saw the over regulation and the causality of Business Opportunities riding on the coat tails of the success in franchising. If it were entirely up to me, well, I vote to de-regulate, especially if we want to keep up with China.

Also consider that 75% of the people in America are employed by small business, why hinder the franchise model, it has proved its worth. It would lead to more regional small business chains; bring back the essence of free enterprise.

Without regulation in franchising, the Franchisors would not have to spend so much, save trees on printing, keep information from competitors, and they could not hide behind a mound of 260 pages of minutia. Franchisors would not have barriers between the franchise relationship and it would be the best for all concerned.

What a wonderful way to spur on the Economy and make this country strong from the mom and pop small business to the largest of the Multi-National Conglomerate Corporations? A new revival in all the things that made us so great. Consider if you will that finally bureaucracy was set aside and common sense prevailed in commerce? Think on this.

If you are just out of high school and considering college, or even if you are going back to college as an adult, you are probably trying to figure out how you can afford it. While there are many different options including grants and loans, student loans are a popular option. Once you decide on where you may be going to college and you are ready to start applying for loans, you will need to figure out how much financing you will actually need. When you are trying to come up with the amount you need in financing it is important to figure out both your expenses and money you may be earning at the time.

Living Expenses

When trying to figure out how much you need to borrow in student loans, you need to figure out how much money you will need in living expenses. It is helpful if you make up a budget that estimates all of the expenses that you will have each month. Things that you should include in this estimate include gas, rent, insurance, utilities, food, car payments, loan payments, and child care if you need it. Then you need to multiply the monthly amount by the number of months that you will be in school, then add in the amount of tuition and school supplies that you will need as well. This total will help to give you a good idea of how much money you are going to need while you are going to college.

Income

You also will need to consider any income that you will be earning in the months you are going to college as well. If you are working, this will make a different in how much money you need in student loans. While it is usually not a good idea to work full time while you are going to college full time, there are many part time jobs and even work study programs that can help you earn money to pay for your tuition and other living expenses. Once you have figured out how much you will need, and how much you can earn on your own, then you will have an idea of how much financing you will end up needing.

Apply for Loans

Once you have realized how much money you will need in loans, you will need to start going through the application process. It is important that you start filling out applications far in advance so you have the time to get your loans before college gets underway. When you are applying for student loans, check into the option of getting grants as well, which you will not have to repay later. Remember, once you take out student loans, you will have to repay them at some point, so be careful how much you take at and try to keep your borrowing at a minimum.
